About Hard-Pressed

Hard-Pressed is a Web site for all things WordPress: words, pictures, videos, themes, plugins, and more. It’s part blog, but it’s much more than that. At least, that’s the plan. Although I originally planned this site years ago, I’m just now getting around to finishing enough of it to launch in May of 2009. What can I say? I’ve been busy working and attending university. Work on Hard-Pressed will continue after the launch as I want this site to be the best it can be.

One thing you may find different about this site compared to other WordPress sites is a complete lack of zealotry. I like WordPress, but it’s just a tool to me and I don’t fault anyone else for choosing a different one. Indeed, I have my own content-management software that I use for some of my Web sites.

Similarly, I have no objection to software that is not licensed under the GPL and I use software licensed under many different licenses, including many commercial licenses. I am not inclined to overlook good software simply because it doesn’t happen to have a so-called free license.

Use the right tool for the job, I say. I use what seems good and appropriate for my needs regardless of community affiliation, license, or platform. When it comes to writings, you can expect honest, straightforward criticism in any direction.

About Brian Sexton

My name is Brian Sexton. I usually work as a software developer (mostly PHP, MySQL, and Flash/ActionScript projects, currently on a freelance basis) and I develop my own software and Web sites in my personal time. I am also a visual artist, a writer, and a university student (when my work schedule and finances both allow). Like my parents before me, I was raised right here in Silicon Valley.

My main personal Web site can be found at http://www.briansexton.com/.
